We start out with Mad Mike remixing Robert Hood! Mister Mike drops strings work only he is capable of (or dares to put down) within techno. Following up is BLACKASTEROID remixing Depeche Mode’s “Sooth My Soul”. We slowly build up the energy with Tim Wolff’s excellent remix of Mr. Jones – Apogeum, on what label was that released again?
After that we are schooled on the effects of Acid by Temporal Transmission and Matt Whitehead proves ye ol chicago formula of tr 707 drummachines and tb 303 bass synths can still result in a new sound.

House Of Black Lanterns kicks off this week’s show. A dark perfect ride to warm up Mr. Jones’ – Apogeum which was released this week (check all the info here). Paul Edge serves his large amount of social media following with an quirky track called “4-6 Months”. And the struggle of unpronounceable artist and track titles reached it’s peak with RJRJRFFRJRJ. Sorry we had to stop broadcasting 15 mins earlier than normal, there was a special session planned in the always lively club of studio 80.

Keith Tucker was so kind to fire over his new Optic Nerve EP (you know it’s going to be funky) and we finish yet again with Dave Clarke and Mr. Jones’ Bacon Doggie track: Spek Hondje (kudos for those who spotted that I mixed in the Bass-a-pella in first!).

We celebrate Tim Wolff becoming a part of The Public Stand with a 60 minute special about the Wolff. I picked out five of my favorite Tim Wolff tracks and he brought five of his most influencial techno classics.
Hour one is usual business: all the new tracks (a small portion actually of all the tracks I got in, added a stunning 84 tracks this week to my Serato!). Big week for techno with more than a handful of amazing releases hitting my mailbox or creditcard. How about the debut single by _Unsubscribe_ featuring Bear Who on the vocals, Lucy ripping apart Heiko Laux, and Perc adding his sledgehammer sounds to BLACKASTEROID’s “Black Acid”. Also finally managed to track down a haunting track I stumbled upon in Rotterda Club Perron during T47′s set: Eomac – Spoock. That and much more in the first hour. Charlton hits The Public Stand this week, the Rotterdam resident returned to the Harbour City after a five year stay in London where he developed his sounds resulting in releases on Field Records, Audio Assault, Arms, Labrynth, Aftertaste and M_Rec and being incorporated on Norman Nodges Berghain compilation. Now he hits The Public Stand: mixing up sounds from the present to Detroit classic by population and sneaking in some Juke vocals in (that always makes me happy!).

Hour II I’m bringing the techno news: BLACKASTEROID sent me his new release on EDLX, Dj Surgeless (hard to pronounce it on Radio without making it sound Dj Shirtless) provided TPS with some Hood inspired sounds followed by Ritzi Lee who does what he does and stands out in doing so… Then we allow you to gasp for air for a few track with Denhert, Mael, Rudimann and Stephen Brown’s interpretation of Ian O’Donnovan’s release provided to TPS by the Eevolute team.

This week on The Public Stand we have Mr Dimi Angelis as a guest doing a live set in hour II. His label A&S (that he runs with Jeroen Search) makes me regret selling my SL1200′s as it is vinyl only. Should I beg for promo’s or keep my pride and buy back an SL1200? Tough call…

When you do it live, shit will go wrong sometimes, this was one of those shows, one minute before going live we lost power! Luckily it only took 15 mins to get back up and running. To make up for it Roman Zawodny opens up the show with high energy electro followed by master of synth composition Simplicity Is Beauty. We slowly work towards the darker sounds with Developer, Ascion and Mael. This week Amsterdam’s own Sandrien is hitting the TPS studio… I always respect a DJ who can build a groove as if all the records where made for one and other to co-exist in the mix. Now that doesnt mean she play’s smooth music, you are lured into to old tracks by Luke Slater and The Advent. She doesnt do tracklists sadly, women *sigh*.

I myself don’t look back when doing the show, it’s about the now, the present and the upcoming music for me. Defbass, Space Dj’z, Audio Injection, Terrence Dixon, Ben Klock are just a few who proves techno is the music re-inventing itself for about thirty years now. Read-more
